The Step Brothers Snack Board That Proves We Never Actually Grew Up
There are movies you like and then there are movies that live inside you. Step Brothers is the second kind.
Matt and I watched it again last weekend. We own it on DVD, which in 2026 is practically a declaration of love for a piece of content. We have both loved it since we were growing up and somehow it just keeps getting funnier. The quotes are so deep in our bones at this point that they come out completely involuntarily. To this day, my mom and I still quote “what the fing f” to each other. That is the scene where Nancy is spraying Brennan and Dale with a garden hose while they hit each other with a golf club and a bat on the front lawn. If you have seen it you know exactly the tone of voice. If you have not seen it then I genuinely do not know what you have been doing with your time.
This is one of the most quotable movies ever made. Every single scene has a line that someone somewhere has said out loud at a completely inappropriate moment and felt totally justified doing it. It is a cult classic for a reason and building a snack board around it was genuinely one of the most fun things I have done for this series. You can find all of the printable labels I made for this board at the bottom of this page.
If you’re liking this snack board series you might also want to check out some of the other fun movie themed snack boards we have created like The Mighty Ducks, Spider-Man, Star Wars and Mean Girls.
Every recipe and product link is below 👉 but first let me show you what we are working with.

The F***ing Catalina Wine Mixer
The Catalina Wine Mixer is the greatest helicopter leasing company event in the history of Prestige Worldwide and it deserves to be on the table.
I bought a Catalina Wine Mixer PNG label from Etsy, printed it on sticker paper, and applied it to a wine bottle. It looks so good that Matt did a double take when he saw it. If you want to do the same thing you can get the png right here.
The drink itself is blue Powerade served in a wine glass, which is exactly how Brennan would want it. Throughout the movie there are family dinner scenes where he is clearly drinking something blue out of a wine glass because he wants to feel sophisticated and I respect that vision completely.

Boats N Hoes
Did we just become best friends?
Yep.
The hot dogs have little blue sailboat sails on toothpicks because Boats N Hoes is the greatest original song in the history of cinema and that is not a debate I am willing to have. The boats are handled. But the hoes needed representation and Hostess does not make Ho Hos anymore, which is genuinely a loss for all of us, so Swiss rolls stepped in and did the job. They are sitting right there next to the boats and I think we can all agree they earned their place on this board.

Brennan’s Nachos
In the opening sequence of this movie, Brennan makes nachos. He grabs a truly unhinged amount of shredded cheese and dumps it directly onto tortilla chips with the energy of a man who has never once been told no.
My grandmother made nachos this exact same way her entire life. Chips, shredded cheese, microwave. That is the whole recipe. She would have loved this movie and she absolutely would have gotten this reference immediately and I thought about her the entire time I was making this dish.
Tortilla chips. Shredded cheddar melted directly on top. The Brennan’s Nachos pick standing right in the middle.

It’s My Fancy Sauce
When Brennan is eating at the table he guards his dipping sauce like it is a treasure. It is his fancy sauce and he did not say you could have any.
This is mayo and ketchup mixed together. That is it. That is the fancy sauce. It is served in a bowl in the center of a pile of boneless chicken wings — NGL – the sauce was actually pretty good.

I Know You Touched My Drumstick
The drumset scene is one of the greatest escalations in comedy history. Dale owns a drumset. It is his most prized possession. He warns Brennan to never touch it. As soon as Dale is gone, Brennan goes to town on the drumset. What follows is a confrontation so committed and so unhinged that it ends with both of them being sprayed with a garden hose on the front lawn by Nancy while they swing a golf club and a bat at each other.
I only served the drumettes. No flats. Just drums. The pick says “I know you touched my drumstick” and it is planted directly in them with complete and total conviction.

What’s Your Favorite Dinosaur
This is the scene that gives us the greatest bromance origin story in movie history. Brennan and Dale discover they have everything in common. Favorite dinosaur. John C. Reilly’s delivery of “did we just become best friends” is one of the most perfectly timed line readings ever committed to film – try and tell me you haven’t quoted it before.
I found dinosaur shaped tater tots at Target approximately three days before I needed them for this board. I had no idea what I was going to use them for, but I was not leaving that store without them. That is not a coincidence. That is the universe telling you that you are on the right track. They are golden, crispy, and shaped like tiny dinosaurs and they have a Dale pick that asks “what’s your favorite dinosaur” standing right in them.

You Have to Call Me Dragon
When Brennan and Dale first meet they are both being forced to introduce themselves and Dale announces that his name is Dale but you have to call him Dragon. No context. No explanation. Just Dragon.
I found cinnamon dragon candy at Trader Joe’s and I put the Dale “you have to call me Dragon” pick directly in them and it is one of my favorite details on the entire board.

What Are You Doing? It’s Shark Week
After the drumset fight, after the hose, after all of it, Brennan and Dale are sitting on the couch getting lectured by their parents. The parents turn off the TV. The boys look at each other. “What are you doing? It’s Shark Week.” It is the most perfect transition from chaos to total normal in the history of film.
Gummy sharks. A bowl of them. The It’s Shark Week pick standing right in the middle. That is the whole dish and it is exactly correct.

Tonight at the Cheesecake Factory Was the Happiest I’ve Been in Months
Robert storms out on Christmas and heads to the Cheesecake factory because the boys are legit ruining their lives. Robert delivers this line with the exhausted sincerity of a man who has given up on everything except the Cheesecake Factory and honestly I relate to that energy on a spiritual level.
Two slices of strawberry cheesecake with the Cheesecake Factory logo pick and the scene quote pick both planted right in them. The cheesecake is the fanciest thing on this board and it earned it.

The Whole Table
When everything came together on the tray with the blue sails and the blue drinks and the Catalina Wine Mixer bottle and the movie playing behind it the whole thing just looked like exactly what it was supposed to be. A love letter to one of the most unhinged movies ever made, built by two people who grew up quoting it and still do.
