The Simpsons Snack Board That Basically Built Itself (And Yes, There Are Donuts)

Think of it as tipping your server, except the server is me and I am wearing an apron and watching a movie. You pay nothing extra and I get to keep doing this. Win win.**

I will be honest with you. I have not watched a ton of The Simpsons. I know, I know. It has been on the air since 1989, it is basically American television royalty, and I came in late. But here is what I do know: Homer Simpson and food are one of the great love stories of our time. The man has been dreaming about donuts, burgers, and beer for thirty-plus years and honestly? Same. When I tell you this snack board basically wrote itself, I mean it. The Simpsons gave us an entire fictional fast food universe to pull from and all I had to do was show up.

This one is not from a cookbook. No recipes, no pressure, no elaborate multi-course dinner. Just a really fun movie night board that looks like it came straight out of Springfield and costs you maybe an hour of your time. It is the kind of thing you throw together on a Friday night when you want the experience without the production. Matt approved. Homer would approve. That is enough for me.

Here is what made it onto the tray:

Krusty’s Famous Burgers

Krusty’s Seasoned Fries

Lard Lad Donuts

Kwik-E-Mart Candy Haul

Bart’s Butterfingers

Duff Beer (the real kind, sort of)

All the details on how to pull this together are right here in this post.

Krusty’s Famous Burgers

Krusty Burger is Springfield’s answer to fast food, which is to say it is chaotic and definitely not reviewed by the health department. In the show it is the kind of place Homer eats at without thinking twice, which honestly tracks. I made the burgers from scratch because that is what I do, but I want to be very clear: you do not have to. Grab them from your favorite fast food spot, unwrap them onto the checkered paper, stick a Krusty Burger pick on top, and nobody will know the difference. The vibe is the same either way.

The presentation is where the magic is. I used red and white checkered deli paper and little red plastic baskets to serve them, which immediately screams diner and makes even a basic burger look intentional. I will link both below so you can grab them without hunting. For the Krusty Burger toppers on the picks, I found those on a fan site and I will tell you exactly how to find them: search “Krusty Burger PNG transparent background” and you will find what you need on Pinterest and Simpsons fan wikis. Print, cut, tape to a toothpick. Done.

Krusty’s Seasoned Fries.

These fries are where I put in the most effort and also the effort that required the most patience. I found a Krusty’s fry box printable, printed it onto sticker paper, mounted it onto thin white cardboard, and assembled the whole box by hand. The front was a little plain so I added a Krusty Burger logo sticker to finish it off. The result looks like something you would buy at a theme park gift shop and I am very proud of it.

I used frozen fries. Seasoned them up a little. Absolutely no notes.

If you want to recreate the box: search “Krusty Burger fry box printable” on Pinterest and it will be the first thing that pops up. Print it on sticker paper, score and fold onto a cardboard sleeve, and assemble. I will link the sticker paper I used below.

For finding the art: the Simpsons fan wiki and Pinterest have everything you need. Search the character or location name plus PNG and you will be in business. Just know this is fan-made content from open sources, which is exactly how I found all of it.

Lard Lad Donuts

If you know one thing about Homer Simpson, it is that the man loves a donut. Lard Lad Donuts is the Springfield institution responsible for that obsession, and their signature is a giant pink frosted donut with sprinkles. I found the biggest, most aggressively pink sprinkle donuts I could and they are perfect. Enormous. Chaotic. Completely on brand.

I added a Lard Lad Donuts pick and a little Homer Simpson cutout standing next to them because of course I did. Search “Lard Lad Donuts PNG” and “Homer Simpson PNG transparent” and you will find everything you need to make the same toppers. Print, cut, done.

The Kwik-E-Mart Candy Haul and Bart’s Butterfingers

The Kwik-E-Mart is where Springfield residents go for snacks, lottery tickets, and life advice from Apu. For our purposes it is where the candy lives. I made a little Kwik-E-Mart sign as a topper and filled that section of the tray with a mix of snack-size Kit Kats, some chewy candy, and of course Bart’s Butterfingers. Butterfingers have been associated with Bart Simpson since the early 90s when he was literally in their commercials. If you are going to put one candy on this board, make it that one.

The Kwik-E-Mart sign is the same process as everything else: search “Kwik-E-Mart logo PNG,” print, cut, stick to a pick. It takes five minutes and it ties the whole snack section together instantly.

Duff Beer

Duff Beer is Homer’s drink of choice and one of the most recognizable fictional brands in television history. For ours, Matt and I each grabbed a can of our actual favorite beers and I printed Duff Beer label artwork to wrap them. The result is completely convincing and a little bit ridiculous and exactly right for a Simpsons night.

Search “Duff Beer label printable” and you will find fan-made versions in several styles. Print on regular paper or sticker paper, wrap around your can, and you have officially upgraded your beer without spending extra money. I will share the artwork I used in my video so you can see exactly what I worked with.

The Full Springfield Experience

When everything came together on the tray it looked like a cartoon had come to life on my kitchen counter, which was exactly the goal. The pink donuts, the teal fry boxes, the checkered paper, the Duff cans. It is loud and colorful and completely joyful and it took maybe an hour start to finish. This is what a low-lift movie night board looks like when the theme does the heavy lifting for you.
