Halloweentown Dinner and a Movie

I have a confession to make…For years, Halloweentown has been one of my most requested movie nights – like, every October my DMs light up with “Please do a Halloweentown Dinner and a Movie next!” And every year, I’d sheepishly respond with, “Maybe soon!”

When really: I had never actually seen it.

I know, I know. You’re already gasping like Marnie discovering she’s a witch. But growing up, I just missed the Halloweentown era. It came out right as I was phasing out of Disney Channel movies and into my “I’m too cool for TV” stage (spoiler: I was not too cool).

So this year, I finally sat down, hit play, and decided to give it’s due respect and create the Halloweentown dinner and a movie that this film deserves. And let me tell you… I was absolutely enchanted.

From Aggie Cromwell’s eccentric energy to Marnie’s rebellious witchy streak, this movie is pure Halloween comfort. It’s cozy, nostalgic, and full of that perfectly 90s Disney magic that makes you want to move into a pumpkin house and never leave.

Naturally, I knew this spooky dinner party menu had to be fun, a little kitschy, and totally “family that fights monsters together, stays together” energy.

But first, let’s talk about what’s on the table for this hauntingly delicious evening.

Appetizer: Mummy Mozzarella Sticks

These little guys are basically every ghoul’s favorite comfort snack, ooey-gooey mozzarella wrapped in flaky crescent dough “bandages.” I brushed them with a little garlic butter before baking to give them that golden “fresh from the tomb” glow.

A couple of candy eyeballs (or olive slices) bring them to life, and just like that, you’ve got mummies ready to munch. They’re creepy enough to fit a Halloweentown party but kid-friendly enough for the whole coven.

Serve them with marinara “blood” for dipping, and don’t be surprised when they disappear faster than Kalabar in the finale.

Main Course: Monster Pulled Pork Sand-Witches

Yes, you read that right – sand-witches.

These were so much fun to make! I built each pulled pork sandwich to look like a monster’s face using cheese for the sharp “teeth,” a slice of pickle for a tongue, BBQ sauce for a little “blood,” and two green olive eyes peeking out from the top bun.

The result? A meal that looks straight out of Aggie’s spellbook…creepy, funny, and downright delicious.

If you’re throwing a Halloween dinner party or a horror movie night, these are perfect for guests of all ages. The tangy, smoky pulled pork pairs perfectly with the sweet-spicy BBQ, and the monster presentation turns a classic comfort food into a total showstopper.

Side: Goblin Slaw

Every monster needs a little crunch.

This bright, tangy slaw adds the perfect fresh bite to all that rich pulled pork. I kept the colors vibrant with purple cabbage, shredded carrots, and green onion, so it looks right at home in Halloweentown’s bustling market square.

If you want to get fancy, toss in a few green apple matchsticks for a tart little “witchy twist.”

Side: Jack-O’-Lantern Fries

Okay, this one is so nostalgic I could cry. I used frozen smiley fries, yes, the childhood classic, and gave them a Halloween makeover by sticking a tiny pretzel in the top as the pumpkin “stem.”

They bake up golden and crispy, and when you serve them next to the monster sandwiches, the whole plate looks like a pumpkin patch that came to life.

This is one of those easy Halloween recipes that takes zero effort but gets maximum “Oh my gosh, that’s so cute!” reactions.

Dessert: Sophie’s Cookies

Inspired by Marnie’s little sister Sophie, because we all know she’s the real MVP of the Cromwell clan, these chocolate chip cookies are loaded with Halloween M&Ms for a burst of color and crunch.

They’re soft, chewy, and magical in that “fresh out of the oven on a chilly October night” kind of way.

I served them warm with a glass of milk, but they’d also be adorable as party favors in little witchy treat bags if you’re hosting a full-on Halloween feast.

Drink: Aggie’s Potion

Every great witch needs a signature brew, and this one’s straight from Grandma Aggie’s spellbook.

Aggie’s Potion is a shimmering deep blue drink that feels just as magical as stepping off the bus in Halloweentown for the first time. Made with butterfly pea flower lemonade and a splash of vodka (or skip the spirits for a family-friendly version), it’s glittery, glowing, and absolutely enchanting.

When you stir it, the potion shifts from deep blue to mystical purple, like a little color-changing magic right before your eyes. I topped mine with a tiny witch hat and broom garnish because, let’s face it, Aggie would totally approve.

It’s whimsical, mysterious, and perfectly sweet with a citrusy twist, exactly the kind of drink you’d sip while planning your next spell or hosting a spooky movie night marathon.

Why Halloweentown Belongs in Every October Lineup

Watching this movie for the first time as an adult, I finally get it.

It’s nostalgic, it’s heartwarming, and it makes you believe that maybe, just maybe, there’s a little magic left in the world.

And that’s what these Dinner and a Movie nights are all about.

They’re not just about food – they’re about creating a whole experience. It’s about reliving childhood memories, finding new ones, and making every spooky season just a little more magical.
