A Wickedly Fun Movie Night: A Themed Dinner & A Movie Experience
There are two things in life I have always been absolutely obsessed with – theater and food.
Before I was The Fairytale Foodie, before I was hosting elaborate dinner and movie nights, before I was even old enough to own a decent kitchen knife, I was a full-blown theater kid.

I grew up belting show tunes, memorizing monologues, and fully believing that one day, Iโd move to New York and take Broadway by storm. Rent was my everything – the musical that made me fall in love with theater, which later lead me to Wicked! I must have listened to the original cast recording hundreds of times, attempting (and usually failing) to master Idina Menzelโs gravity-defying notes.
And when Idina – my theater queen – became a full-fledged Disney girlie with Frozen, it was like the universe was speaking directly to me.
But letโs be real: no one thought anyone could ever play Elphaba better than Idina. And then Cynthia Erivo stepped in and said, โHold my broomstick.โ
So when I found out that the Wicked movie was officially dropping on Peacock next Friday, I knew I couldnโt just watch it like a normal person. No, no. This needed to be an eventโa full-scale, over-the-top, color-coordinated, movie-themed feast.
I rented the movie early (because patience has never been my strong suit), planned a full green and pink menu, and transformed my living room into the ultimate Wicked-watching experience.
And if youโre planning to watch Wicked at home next week? This is your sign to do the same. Because nothing takes a movie night from good to unforgettable like a fully themed menu to match.

How to Plan the Ultimate Wicked Movie Night
Hereโs the thing: I didnโt want to just slap together some green and pink food and call it a day. This wasnโt about gimmicks – it needed to taste amazing.
I wanted every dish to feel like an extension of the movie, something that could stand on its own but still nod to the world of Oz.
I spent way too much time brainstorming, almost went down a pink mashed potatoes rabbit hole (instant regret), and finally landed on a movie-night-approved menu that was equal parts dramatic, delicious, and easy to pull off.
No weird food coloring tricks. No impossible recipes. Just really good food that makes the movie feel even more immersive.
Hereโs what made the cut:

The Wicked-Inspired Movie Night Menu
This menu was built around one idea – contrast.
Elphaba vs. Glinda. Bold vs. sweet. Rich greens vs. playful pinks. Let’s Start with the Appetizers!!
One Short Day
Rainbow fruit platter
A rainbow fruit board with powdered donut โcloudsโ, inspired by the Emerald City, with a little nod to the original Wizard of Oz. (Bonus: Itโs the easiest thing on this menu.)

I’m Not that Guac
The best guacamole ever (according to my husband), served with purple tortilla chips to match Elphabaโs aesthetic. Fun fact? I have a weird aversion to avocados. The texture. The taste. The everything. I just canโt. (Oh, and I might be slightly allergic? But Iโm still here making guac for other people, so thatโs love.)
Is it really the best guac ever? Guess you’re just going to have to make it to find out!
unlimited popcorn
A Movie Night Must Have
Pink and green caramel popcorn, because whatโs a movie night without popcorn?
The best thing about this recipe?? You can customize for any movie or event. Hosting a Christmas Party? Green and Red! Hosting a Disney Princess Party? Pastels!
This dish is so easy to make, and always a crowd pleaser!

The Main Event!
The Enchanted Emerald Cut
A juicy skirt steak dripping in chimichurri (because what better way to represent Elphaba?).
This isn’t just a movie night treat – this dish is in regular rotation at our house! It is that good!
Do yourself a favor and add this dish to your regular rotation!!
The Sides
madam morrible’s roasted potatoes & defying broccolini
Purple roasted potatoes and crispy broccolini, because even the side dishes deserved to be on theme.
can’t forget the dessert!
Popular Pink Treats
๐ Popular Pink Treats โ A pink dessert board featuring cupcakes and sugar cookies. I wanted to bake from scratch. But life was insanely busy, so I grabbed store-bought treats instead. And guess what?
No one noticed. That said, if youโre feeling ambitious, Iโve included my favorite pink sugar cookie and cupcake recipes for a homemade option.

Can’t Forget the Drink
pink goes good with green
You know we loved our layered cocktails around here — so of course I had to lean into that beautiful pink goes good with green in a beautiful layered drink for this movie night feast!!
I have 5 Wicked Cocktails Coming NEXT WEEK — we you can totally start with this one!
How It All Came Together
I thought this would be a quick prep situation. Spoiler: It was not.
I went deep into the world of pink and green food, trying to find a balance between what looks good and actually tastes good.
โ The fruit platter? Easy. Just some slicing and arranging.
โ The guac? My husband handled the taste test because again, I am not built for avocado life.
โ The steak? Absolute perfection. Juicy, buttery, and drowning in chimichurri.
โ The potatoes and broccolini? Roasted to crispy, salty perfection.
โ The popcorn? A tiny bit messy, but totally worth it. The pink and green caramel came out glossy, vibrant, and better than anything youโd get at a theater.
โ The dessert? Grabbed from the store, plated on a cute dish, zero regrets.
Once everything was plated, we hit play on the movie and settled in for a night of singing, snacking, and fully appreciating the Wicked universe from the comfort of our couch.
Make Your Own Wicked Movie Night
Wicked drops on Peacock next Friday, which means you have plenty of time to put together your own movie-inspired dinner. Whether you go all out with every dish or just make the popcorn, I promise it makes the whole experience so much more fun.
And if you do try this, tag me @thefairytalefoodie so I can see your magical movie night spread!
Now tell meโare you more of a bold, moody Elphaba or a bubbly, dramatic Glinda in the kitchen? Because this menu has a little something for both.
Oh, and if you love this kind of fully themed dinner and a movie, you need my Epic Eats Cookbook. Itโs packed with fully planned movie nights, just like this one.
๐ฌ Until next timeโhappy cooking, happy movie-watching, and may all your meals be as magical as the movies.
