Ant-Man and the Wasp Dinner & Movie Night: Big Bites, Tiny Treats, and a Drink That Feels Like a Science Experiment

I need to tell you something before we get into this.

I am obsessed with Paul Rudd. Not in a weird way. In a completely normal, totally reasonable way where I Love You Man is one of my all time favorite movies and I will defend it in any room. So when we got to Ant-Man on our Marvel marathon I was already emotionally invested before the opening credits finished.

And then I sat down to plan the food and I thought, okay. Pym Particles. Things get big. Things get small. What if the whole dinner leaned into that?

What followed was the most fun I have had in my kitchen in a very long time.

But keep reading because I need to tell you about the petri dishes.

The Pym Particle Concept: Size Is Everything

The whole menu is built around the idea of Pym Particles. In the movie things shrink down to ant size or blow up to Giant-Man proportions depending on what Scott needs in the moment. I took that concept and applied it to every single course.

The drink is served in a glass laboratory beaker. The salad has croutons the size of your fist. The chicken sandwich is deliberately, aggressively oversized and hangs off the bun on every side. And the dessert is a micro flight of three tiny treats served in actual petri dishes and a mini beaker because if we are doing this we are doing it all the way.

I have never been to Avengers Campus at Disneyland. I know that sounds criminal given what I do for a living and it absolutely is on the list. But I have seen enough content from that place to know their oversized chicken and their lab drinks are legendary, and that energy was very much the inspiration for this whole menu. I built my version from scratch in my own kitchen and I am not mad about how it turned out.

Let’s Start With the Drink Because It Sets the Whole Tone

Red popping boba layered at the bottom. Lemon-lime soda. Grenadine poured slowly down the side so it sinks and creates that layered experiment effect. More popping boba floating at the top. Served in a 250ml glass beaker with a striped straw.

There is a cocktail version with vodka and a full mocktail version that is just as good. The presentation tip in the cookbook is to add a small pipette filled with grenadine so your guests can activate their own drink at the table. If you are doing this for date night, that pipette detail is genuinely one of the most fun interactive moments I have ever put on a table.

The Size Matters Caesar: Because Size Matters

Giant romaine leaves. Croutons the size of a small country. Wide parmesan ribbons that have never once been told to be modest. The whole point is that nothing is chopped small and nothing is subtle and it looks absolutely ridiculous on the table in the best way.

It is still a really good Caesar. It just knows it is a lot and has fully committed to that identity. Respect.

The Hot Honey Hero Chicken Sandwich: The Star of the Show

This is the centerpiece of the whole meal and it is deliberately, aggressively oversized. The chicken breast is butterflied and pounded wide so it hangs off the brioche bun on every side. It gets marinated in buttermilk, dredged in a seasoned flour and cornstarch mixture, and air fried until it is golden and crispy and absolutely enormous.

Then comes the hot honey. Sweet, spicy, sticky, drizzled over the whole thing before the purple slaw goes on top.

Yes, there is a similar chicken sandwich at Avengers Campus. I have never been there. I built this one from my own kitchen using what I know about great fried chicken and the flavor profile that fits this movie. If you have had theirs and want to compare, I fully welcome the challenge.

The Pym Particle Sauce for dipping is also in the cookbook and it is creamy, smoky, and tangy in a way that makes the whole plate make sense. Make it. You will not regret it.

Quantum Tots: Tiny But Mighty

If the chicken sandwich is Giant-Man energy, the Quantum Tots are full Ant-Man. Mini tater tots seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt, served with two dipping sauces that could honestly be the main event on their own. The Pym Particle Sauce is creamy and smoky. The Quantum Heat Sauce is spicy and bright. Both recipes are in the cookbook.

The cookbook gives you both an easy frozen tot option and a full from scratch version for the overachievers. I see you. I respect you. Both are delicious.

The Pym Particle Micro Dessert Flight: My Favorite Thing I Have Ever Put on a Table

Okay. Here is where I get genuinely excited.

I wanted something that looked like a tiny lab. Three miniature desserts served in actual lab ware. Micro brownies in a petri dish. Tiny chocolate chip cookies in a petri dish. A strawberry lemon cheesecake cup in a mini beaker.

All three are micro-sized. All three are on one plate. The whole thing looks like it belongs in Hank Pym’s lab and it is honestly one of the most visually satisfying things I have ever created for a movie night.

The cookies are from my famous 30 year recipe, just made tiny. I always have the dough in my freezer so I baked a small batch fresh. The brownies I made from scratch. The cheesecake cups I assembled using a really good store-bought cheesecake filling because life is short and it is genuinely that good. No judgment here, only results.

This is what happens when you take Pym Particles seriously as a culinary concept. Everything is intentional, everything has a reason, and somehow it all comes together into one of the most fun date nights you will ever have at home.

Paul Rudd would approve. I am certain of it.
