Disney Date Night: A Princess and the Frog Dinner and a Movie Experience

If there’s one thing The Princess and the Frog teaches us, it’s that dreams are built on passion, perseverance, and of course – good food. Tiana’s story is a love letter to New Orleans cuisine, filled with rich, flavorful dishes that transport you straight to the bayou. So for this Disney date night, we went all out, crafting a full menu Princess and the Frog Dinner and a Movie Menu and enjoying a magical dinner and a movie experience right at home.

Why The Princess and the Frog is the Perfect Disney Date Night Movie

There’s something special about The Princess and the Frog. From the swinging jazz soundtrack to the deep-rooted love for Southern cooking, this film is pure magic. And since my husband and I love bringing Disney magic into our home, it was only fitting that we turned this into an immersive dinner and movie night.

💬 Bringing Tiana’s flavors to life for the ultimate Disney Date Night!

I first attempted a Princess and the Frog-themed dinner back in 2021, but let’s just say… the gumbo didn’t turn out great (yikes). It ended up way too thick, more like a stew than a proper gumbo. Since then, my cooking has improved so much, and I knew this film deserved a proper Disney date night. This time, I went all in—not only recreating Tiana’s iconic dishes, but also every single dish featured in the movie! And let me tell you, it was 100% worth it.

The gumbo was redemption. This time around, I prepped it the day before (which made it even better!) and adjusted my technique to get that perfect, rich, and silky texture. My husband? He practically licked his plate clean.

Swamp Water Cocktail – A Glow-in-the-Dark Tribute to Ray

💬 Murky bayou vibes with a glowing firefly twist!

  • A murky, bayou-colored cocktail served in a tall glass.
  • Fairy lights inside to mimic Ray’s glow.
  • Garnished with a frog candy—because, of course!
  • This cocktail (or mocktail!) was a showstopper on the table.

If there’s one thing The Princess and the Frog gets right, it’s the magic of the bayou at night—fireflies twinkling, music playing, and a little touch of something mystical in the air. That’s exactly what inspired this Swamp Water Cocktail, a creamy, tropical drink that looks like murky bayou water but tastes like a dream.

With glowing fairy lights to mimic fireflies and a frog gummy garnish, this drink is the perfect nod to Ray and his love for Evangeline. And the best part? It tastes just like a Scooby Snack shot—if you know, you know. 😉

Whether you’re hosting a Disney movie night, a themed party, or just want a fun, easy cocktail or mockail, this one is a must-try.

Ray’s Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread – A Cheesy Southern Favorite

A plate of jalapeño cheddar cornbread muffins and a bowl of powdered sugar-dusted beignets, set beside a Princess and the Frog themed dinner menu with soft lighting and yellow tulips in the background.

  • Crispy edges, gooey cheddar inside, and a little jalapeño kick.
  • The perfect spicy-sweet balance to pair with the gumbo.
  • My husband’s second favorite dish of the night!

💬 This time, the gumbo was a hit—so good, my husband licked the plate clean!

  • A flavor-packed, deep, rich gumbo that would make Tiana proud.
  • Slow-simmered with Creole spices, shrimp, and smoky sausage.
  • This was night and day better than my first attempt back in 2021.

Tiana’s love for cooking started in the kitchen with her father, stirring a pot of rich, flavorful gumbo. It wasn’t just about the deep, smoky spices or the slow-simmered goodness—it was about bringing people together, just like he taught her. Every spoonful of this dish is a taste of tradition, love, and New Orleans soul. Want to bring Tiana’s magic to your own kitchen?

New Orleans Jambalaya – A New Addition to the Menu

  • A classic one-pot Creole dish loaded with rice, shrimp, sausage, and bold seasonings.
  • Not part of my original 2021 meal, but it made the night even more authentic.
  • The perfect complement to gumbo and cornbread.
