ELF Inspired Snack Board

If you have been around here for a while, you know Elf is one of my comfort Christmas movies. But before Buddy the Elf ever pranced across my screen, I actually had a tiny, real life connection to Will Ferrell himself. Long before he was Buddy or Ron Burgundy or the legend we all know today, my aunt was working on a movie that he starred in. This was back when he was just starting to get big as the Spartan Cheerleader on SNL (is my age showing here?). He was still an up and comer, still the guy who chatted with everyone on set, and still the guy who made my teen self feel like the coolest kid alive.
I spent so much of that summer on set. I even had the tiniest extra role that lasted about three seconds. But here is my favorite part. On my last day, I baked thirteen batches of cookies so I could pass them out to the cast and crew. Will Ferrell handed me a handwritten thank you note. I wish I still had it. That was my first ever moment as a little food creator, long before The Fairytale Foodie ever existed.
So it honestly feels a little full circle to bring you this Elf inspired snack board. It is fun, chaotic, colorful, and exactly the kind of thing Buddy would lose his mind over. And I promise it is so easy to put together for your Elf movie night.
Welcome to the snack board that smells like beef and cheese but also looks like Christmas magic.

The Full Elf Snack Board Menu
Here is everything we included. Each item ties back to an iconic Elf quote or scene, which makes it extra fun if you are hosting a holiday movie night.
Smiling’s My Favorite
Smiley fries, because Buddy is a beacon of joy and these potato faces make everyone smile.

You Smell Like Beef And Cheese
Little beef and cheese sliders. You can make them homemade or use White Castle frozen sliders for the funniest, most on brand option. No one is judging you here.

Buddy’s Candy Cane Forest Parfaits
These little pudding cups are made with vanilla pudding, chopped Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, whipped cream, crushed peppermint, sprinkles, and mini candy canes. I knew I wanted to pay homage to the candy cane forest – and this is the best way I could possibly do that.

Awesome Snowball Fight
Powdered sugar donut holes. Bonus points if you stack them into a little snowball mountain.

Pillsbury Elf Cookies
Because if there is an Elf printed on the cookie, Buddy would approve. If Pilsbury puts out a themed sugar cookie – I am buying it! (Don’t tell anyone but I literally have 6 different kinds in my fridget right now – the life of a content creator)
Nerd Gummies and Christmas Gummy Bears
Just a couple of fun pops of color to tuck into the empty spaces on your board.
Popcorn
My favorite gap filler and one of Buddy’s four main food groups. If you know, you know.

How To Build Your Elf Snack Board
I build almost all of my snack boards the same way. You want structure first, then color, then the little whimsical touches at the end.
- Start with your larger items. Add the fries and sliders first. These are your anchor pieces and they help shape the board. I used these exact little appetizer plates (link here).
- Add your parfait cups toward the back so they stand tall and show off those cute Little Debbie trees.
- Fill the front area with your snowball donuts to balance the height.
- Pour popcorn around the borders and in any remaining gaps. It gives the board a soft, cozy look and makes everything feel connected.
- Tuck in your gummies, Nerd clusters, or sprinkles wherever you need a little pop of color.
- Add your printable Elf tags. These tiny signs make the whole thing come alive and pull the theme together instantly. You can download them at the bottom of this post.
This board looks HUGE and impressive but comes together in under 20 minutes once everything is prepped. It is truly the easiest holiday crowd pleaser for kids and adults.
