Five Nights at Freddy’s Dinner and a Movie Night

Horror movie food, creepy cupcakes, and neon cocktails—what could go wrong?

There’s something weirdly magical about a horror movie that knows exactly what it is. That’s what makes Five Nights at Freddy’s so fun. It’s campy. It’s chaotic. And if you grew up anywhere near a Chuck E. Cheese, it’s low-key traumatizing. So of course, I had to turn it into a full-on spooky dinner party.

Last spooky season, my husband and I sat down to watch it, fully expecting to make fun of it the whole way through. But 10 minutes in, we were both totally hooked. There’s this perfect mix of jump scares, retro arcade nostalgia, and “so bad it’s good” moments that made it instantly memorable. We ended up talking about it for weeks.

The Vibes: Chuck E. Cheese Meets Chaos

This isn’t your usual horror movie dinner. This is haunted animatronic chaos served on a platter.

The goal for this night was to feel like you stepped into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza if it were run by a Halloween party planner with a flair for the dramatic. I leaned into bright colors, fun shapes, layered textures, and over-the-top garnishes.

The printable menu we used (included in my cookbook) looked just like a game loading screen, which felt perfect with Freddy’s glitchy, vintage-arcade energy.

This night was all about creepy fun—not terrifying, just delightfully weird.

Every single dish is based on a character or moment in the movie, and the whole thing was designed to be delicious, doable, and just the right amount of disturbing.

Appetizers

Out of Order Breadsticks
You know those busted arcade games with a sad “Out of Order” sign? That’s the vibe I channeled into these buttery garlic knots. Classic, simple, and always the first thing to disappear—especially when served with warm marinara for dipping. These were the perfect spooky snack to munch while the opening scene kicked off.

Chica’s Party Wings
Chica is wild and chaotic (in the best way), so she got a trio of wings that packed a punch.
We did:

• Lemon Pepper – for the bold
• Buffalo Parmesan – classic with a twist
• Honey Sriracha – sticky, spicy, and so good

Each one had a different flavor profile, and it felt like you were choosing your fighter—very on theme for a horror movie night with animatronic bosses.

Five Nights at Freddy’s Dinner and a Movie Main Course

Freddy’s Supreme Pizza
Tell me a haunted pizzeria doesn’t scream for a supreme pizza moment. This one was topped with:

• Classic pepperoni
• Sliced jalapeños
• Black olives
• Shredded cheddar and mozzarella

We used different sizes of pepperoni to create that uneven, cartoonish vibe, and the whole thing looked straight out of a cursed birthday party. It was the hero of the night—and tasted even better than it looked.

Bonnie’s Birthday Party Salad
A simple green salad, but make it animatronic. I threw in croutons, crispy bacon bits, cheddar, and a ranch drizzle to keep it crowd-pleasing. It’s that salad you pretend to eat before going back for more wings (which is 100% what we did).

Now About That Dessert

Chica’s Cupcake
This is where I had way too much fun.
These pink-frosted cupcakes had:

• Big googly candy eyes
• Little bunny teeth (made from marshmallows)
• A single yellow candle on top

They were adorable, creepy, and totally on-brand for Chica’s cupcake companion in the game/movie. One bite in and you forget you’re technically eating something inspired by a possessed robot bird.

Drink

Neon Freddy Fizz
This cocktail (or mocktail!) glows.
It’s layered green and blue (thank you, butterfly pea flower magic) and topped with a rainbow gummy bear skewer that looks like it came straight out of an arcade prize bin.

It’s sweet, fruity, and totally Instagrammable. We served ours in tall glasses over ice with neon straws, and the colors popped so beautifully in the low light while the movie played. If you’ve got a blacklight, this drink is begging for it.

How It Went Down

We watched Five Nights at Freddy’s again this year, but this time with the full setup: themed food, spooky lighting, menu printouts, the whole nine yards.

It felt like a grown-up version of the pizza parties I had as a kid—but with better food and way more screaming.

My husband said it might be his favorite dinner we’ve done (high praise), and I honestly agree. It was funny, weird, delicious, and a little nostalgic in that slightly unsettling way. The whole thing felt like Halloween night at an abandoned arcade.
