Hercules Dinner and a Movie Night: Epic Greek-Inspired Recipes for Disney Fans

Banner featuring a Hercules dinner and a movie night spread with colorful chicken kabobs, Greek appetizers, baklava, and a flaming blue Hades cocktail in front of a big screen showing Disney’s Hercules.

If there’s one Disney movie that always has me shouting “I can go the distance!” from the couch, it’s Hercules. Not only is it packed with legendary music, sassy sidekicks, and some of the best one-liners in Disney history, but it’s also the perfect excuse to throw an epic Hercules dinner and a movie night.

For this Hercules dinner night, I pulled out all the stops and channeled Mount Olympus, complete with a menu worthy of the gods, a flaming blue Hades cocktail, and a literal baklava mic drop. (You haven’t lived until you’ve seen dessert sparkle with edible gold!)

If you love a good Disney dinner night or you’ve been searching for the ultimate Hercules themed dinner, this one’s going to rock your toga. Ready to party with the gods? Let’s dive into my full Hercules movie night menu—and yes, you can grab the printable version (plus 11 more magical movie menus inspired by A Goofy Movie, The Jungle Book, Peter Pan and More…) in my Once Upon a Dinner and a Movie cookbook!

Why Hercules is the Ultimate Disney Dinner Night Theme

Here’s the thing: I have a serious soft spot for Mediterranean food. Give me garlic, feta, juicy grilled chicken, and flaky baklava, and I’m basically singing “Zero to Hero.” Hercules has always been one of my comfort movies. Between Meg’s dry wit, Phil’s training montage, and Hades just absolutely stealing every scene, it’s a Disney classic that never gets old.

But the real magic? The way this movie lets you get creative in the kitchen. With a little imagination (and a lot of feta), you can serve up a feast worthy of Olympus, whether you’re hosting a family dinner, a Disney Hercules birthday, or just spicing up your weekly movie night.

The Hercules-Inspired Menu: Greek Dinner Ideas That Go the Distance

Here’s the full Hercules party food menu, straight from my kitchen to your next Disney dinner night:

🔥 God of the Underworld Cocktail (or Mocktail)

Let’s start with a bang – literally. I wanted a signature drink inspired by Hades, so I whipped up a blue, flaming “God of the Underworld” cocktail. I lit this one on fire for the ‘wow’ factor, and it’s pure villainous fun. You can keep it non-alcoholic with blue sports drink or use blue curaçao and vodka for the grown-ups. Add a black and gold sugar rim and you’ve got Hades in a glass. (Kids can just enjoy the blue without the fire, obviously!)

This drink alone is worth inviting a few extra Muses to the party.

🥒 Appetizers: Salad Skewers of the Gods & Meg’s Mythical Garlic Feta Pitas

If you want a Greek appetizer platter that actually gets eaten, this is it.

Salad Skewers of the Gods
Cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, and feta cubes, skewered for easy snacking and dipped in tangy Greek dressing. The colors are super vibrant – think all the gods lining up on Olympus. Plus, they’re totally make-ahead and perfect for kids or adults.

Meg’s Mythical Garlic Feta Pitas
Soft, warm pita bread topped with whipped garlic feta, fresh herbs, and a sprinkle of lemon zest. A little sharp, a little salty, a LOT delicious! I love how this one ties into her spunky attitude and Greek heritage. Plus, who doesn’t want to say they ate mythical pitas?

🍢 Main Course: Mount Olympus Chicken Kabobs & Zeus’s Bolt Basmati Rice

For the main event, you need something hearty, think “training with Phil” fuel. Enter: Mount Olympus Chicken Kabobs.

Juicy marinated chicken, skewered with bell peppers, red onion, and zucchini, then grilled until lightly charred. These kabobs are pure protein-packed perfection, and they look epic served alongside fluffy Zeus’s Bolt Basmati Rice. The rice gets a pop of color with turmeric, lemon zest, and fresh parsley, lightning bolts optional, but highly recommended.

Pair it all with extra pita and a bowl of tzatziki or hummus, and you’ll be channeling your inner hero with every bite.

🍯 Dessert: Olympian Delight Baklava

Baklava is always a showstopper, but for my Hercules movie night, I dressed it up with edible gold leaf and flower petals. Flaky layers of phyllo, sweet honey syrup, crunchy walnuts and pistachios, and that magical sparkle, this is the dessert you break out when you want to feel like a Greek god. (Or at least impress your Instagram followers.)

Hosting Tips for Your Own Hercules Dinner and a Movie Night

  • Make the kabobs ahead and grill right before serving for max flavor.
  • Use store-bought pita if you’re pressed for time—no one will judge.
  • Serve the cocktail flaming for the grown-ups, and skip the fire for kids.
  • Print out a menu card for that “restaurant on Mount Olympus” vibe (find mine in the Once Upon a Dinner and a Movie cookbook!).
  • Let everyone build their own skewers for a fun, interactive dinner.
  • Make extra baklava. Trust me.
