If you grew up in the ‘90s, chances are A Goofy Movie was a staple in your childhood. It had everything—adventure, heart, and some of the most iconic animated food moments in Disney history. And let’s be real, Max’s bacon and eggs breakfast at that little roadside diner? Pure perfection.
Ever since I first watched A Goofy Movie, I’ve been obsessed with this meal. Something about the way it was plated—the perfectly crispy bacon forming that signature Goofy grin, the sunny-side-up eggs staring back at Max as he sulked over his road trip with Goofy—it was the kind of meal that, as a kid, I wished I could order. And now? I don’t have to wish anymore. I’ve recreated it, and it tastes just as magical as I always imagined.
This dish isn’t just breakfast. It’s Disney nostalgia on a plate.

Why This Dish is So Special
There’s something about food in animated movies that makes it look ten times better than in real life. Maybe it’s the perfectly drawn golden hues, the way the eggs seem to glisten, or just the fact that these meals are tied to childhood memories.
For me, this dish takes me right back to being a kid, curled up on the couch with my favorite VHS tape, watching Max try (and fail) to be a normal teenager while Goofy just wanted to bond with his son. The diner scene where Max gets served this breakfast is such a classic moment. He’s moping over his road trip misfortunes, and the waitress plops down this plate of perfectly happy bacon and eggs. It’s a subtle moment, but it sticks.
Now, making this dish for my own A Goofy Movie dinner night brings back all those feelings – the comfort, the fun, and, of course, the absolute banger of a soundtrack that I still sing at full volume.
How to Make Max’s Bacon & Eggs
Bringing this iconic breakfast to life is easier than you might think. And the best part? It doesn’t require anything fancy—just a little extra love to get that perfect sunny-side-up egg and the crispiest, happiest bacon.

Here’s how it’s done:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Lay out your bacon slices and shape them into a smiley face before baking. This part is key—if you just bake them straight, they won’t hold their shape! Let them crisp up in the oven for 15-20 minutes, keeping an eye on them to make sure they don’t overcook.
While the bacon is working its magic, heat a little butter or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Crack in your eggs and let them cook slowly on low heat—this helps get that perfect sunny-side-up effect. The whites should set while the yolk stays nice and runny. If you like a firmer yolk, you can cover the pan for a minute, but be warned—it might turn opaque!
Once your bacon is crispy and your eggs are just the way you like them, it’s time for the best part—plating!
Place the eggs on a plate as the “eyes,” position the bacon as the smiling mouth, and if you want to be extra fancy, add a little fresh parsley as a garnish to complete the look.
And there you have it—Max’s Bacon & Eggs, straight out of A Goofy Movie!
A Goofy Movie Dinner & a Movie
Sure, this breakfast is amazing on its own, but if you really want to turn your kitchen into a Goofy Movie-themed diner, why stop at just bacon and eggs?
When I made this for our A Goofy Movie dinner and a movie night, I went all in. That meant pairing this dish with:
✔ The Leaning Tower of Cheeza – Yes, the one and only! A glorious pile of cheesy tater tots stacked just like PJ’s masterpiece.
✔ “Hi Dad” Mimosa – Inspired by Goofy’s heartfelt soup message, this mimosa brings all the Hi Dad nostalgia, but with a fun twist—cranberry juice frozen into letters, served with fresh orange juice and champagne (or sparkling water!).
✔ Goofy’s Short Stack – Because no breakfast is complete without a giant, fluffy stack of pancakes dripping with butter and syrup.
And to really set the mood, I dimmed the lights, turned on my Philips Hue smart lights, and let the whole room glow in warm, cozy diner-style tones while Stand Out and Eye to Eye played in the background. It seriously took the whole experience to another level.

Max’s Bacon & Eggs | A Goofy Movie Inspired DIsh
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 2 slices of bacon
- Olive oil or butter for frying eggs
- Fresh parsley for garnish optional
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Lay the bacon slices on the baking sheet and shape them into a smiley face curve.
- Bake the bacon in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy. Keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn.
- While the bacon is baking, heat a small amount of olive oil or butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook them sunny-side up until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. For firmer yolks, cover the skillet with a lid and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. – just note that if you do the egg yolk may turn white.)
- Once the bacon is done, remove it from the oven and let it drain on a paper towel to remove excess grease.
- Place the eggs on a plate to form the eyes of the smiley face.
- Place the bacon below the eggs to form the mouth of the smiley face.
- Add a sprig of fresh parsley below the bacon for decoration (optional).
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra crispy bacon: Bake on a wire rack over a baking sheet instead of directly on parchment paper. This helps the fat drain and makes the bacon even crispier!
- Egg doneness: If you prefer firmer yolks, cover the pan with a lid for 1-2 minutes while cooking—but keep in mind the yolks may turn slightly opaque.
- Make it a full meal: Serve with toast, hashbrowns, or Goofy’s Short Stack pancakes for a complete Disney-inspired breakfast.
- Kid-friendly tip: Let kids arrange the bacon smile themselves before baking—it makes breakfast extra fun!
- Movie night magic: Pair this with the Leaning Tower of Cheeza and Hi Dad Mimosa for a full A Goofy Movie dinner and a movie night.
