The Star Wars Dinner & Movie Night That Took Three Rewatches to Fully Appreciate
I did not grow up on Star Wars. I want to be upfront about that because my husband’s reaction when he found out was the kind of mortified silence usually reserved for people who admit they’ve never seen The Godfather. He grew up on the originals. He can quote every single line from all three. For him, Return of the Jedi is the greatest film ever committed to film. Full stop. No notes.
And I just… did not care. Not the first time we watched them. I respected the cultural significance. I nodded along. I said the right things. But I did not feel it.
Then we watched them again the following Star Wars Day. And something started to click. Then the year after that, I was completely in. Now I am obsessed, and I have been known to defend the prequels with the kind of energy people usually reserve for heated political debates. Revenge of the Sith is a cinematic masterpiece from start to finish, and I will die on that hill. Especially watching it now with everything going on in the world. And you know I am a sucker for a love story, and there is no love story more tragic and operatic than Anakin and Padme.
My husband disagrees about the prequels. We have made our peace with this.

I have been sitting on this meal for a year and a half. I have done a Star Wars Snack Board, and an over the top Star Wars Themed Brunch board – but I just haven’t had time to really hunker down and make this dinner! It has been in Epic Eats since the beginning, and every Star Wars Day I told myself this was the year I was going to finally shoot it. This was finally the year. And what made it even more special is that this is the year I started fully stepping in front of the camera. I have been creating content from behind the lens for almost ten years, and getting comfortable on screen has been a slow and humbling process. A meal that would have taken me a couple hours now takes eight. I walked away from this shoot with 45 minutes of footage that will become three 45-second videos. There is a learning curve and I am on it, but standing in my kitchen watching this spread come together, I genuinely could not stop smiling.
This one was worth the wait.
If you want every recipe from this chapter plus everything else in Epic Eats, you can grab the full cookbook right here 👉 [EPIC EATS LINK] – but keep reading because this spread has a story and also the most dramatic drinks I have ever put on a table.

Ewoks on Endor Cheeseball

I have made this cheeseball a few times now, and every single time I put it on the table, my husband completely loses it over how cute it is. Which is saying something because he is not generally the type to fawn over food presentation. But this little guy gets him every time.
It is a cream cheese and sharp cheddar base, seasoned with Worcestershire and garlic powder, chilled, and then decorated with sliced salami for the face, black olives for the eyes and nose, and crackers tucked in on either side for ears. The result is a tiny edible Ewok staring up at you from the charcuterie board, and it is objectively adorable. Even if you are a hardened Imperial sympathizer.
This year I went a step further and built it out into a full Star Wars charcuterie board using the portable bamboo board my mother-in-law got me when we moved. That board is genuinely perfect for prepping snacks ahead for guests, or in this case, for sustaining us through an entire annual rewatch. My mother-in-law knew exactly what she was doing when she gave it to me. I will be doing a dedicated post on the full Star Wars snack board – I will link it here once it’s up! So, stay tuned for that one because it is a whole thing and it deserves its own moment.

If you are already a fan of themed Dinner and Movie Nights like this one, the Jurassic Park Dinner and Movie Night and the Hook Dinner and Movie Night are both in Epic Eats too, and they have the same bring-the-movie-to-your-table energy that makes this whole thing so fun.
Bantha Ribs
Full disclosure: I originally called these Wookie Ribs. My husband immediately said “no one wants to eat Chewy” and I had to completely agree with him. We renamed them Bantha Ribs on the spot, and honestly it is so much better. Banthas are the big woolly creatures from Tatooine, they are Tusken Raider livestock, and the name has this rustic desert planet energy that suits a rack of ribs perfectly.
I am a pork girl through and through and ribs are my absolute jam. We kept these rustic and went with a dry rub: brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin, rubbed all over and wrapped tight in foil, then low and slow in the oven for three to four hours. The result is fall-off-the-bone tender with a gorgeous dark crust on the outside. They are also incredible with BBQ sauce if that is your preference, but I love them just like this. No sauce needed. Just honest, smoky, deeply seasoned pork that makes you want to eat with your hands in front of a space opera.
The AT-AT Walker cutout standing guard next to the platter did not hurt the presentation either.

Imperial Walker Wedges
AT-AT Walkers are the most visually iconic image in the entire original trilogy to me. Those massive mechanical legs marching across the Hoth landscape. The Battle of Hoth as a whole. Even knowing the outcome, that sequence gets me every time.
The potato wedges are straightforward and completely satisfying. Six large Russets cut into wedges, tossed in olive oil with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, spread in a single layer and roasted at 400 degrees until golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Forty minutes, one pan, zero complaints. The AT-AT label pick earns them a spot at any Star Wars table.
They sat on the top tier of the platter and I genuinely could not stop looking at how well this whole setup photographed. Every tier had its own identity and it all made sense together.
Rebel Alliance Rainbow Slaw
I have been doing more low-carb lately, and at restaurants my go-to has become coleslaw almost every time. I know that sounds like it should be boring but it honestly never is. A good slaw hits that sweet, tangy, crunchy note that makes it feel like a little treat. It is one of those things I order and feel zero guilt about.
This version uses a Chinese slaw dressing instead of a creamy base, which makes it lighter, brighter, and genuinely refreshing next to rich smoky ribs. The purple cabbage gives it that deep jewel-toned color that photographs beautifully and earns the “rainbow” name. Sesame seeds on top, the Rebel Alliance pick tucked in, and suddenly you have a side dish with faction loyalty.

I Am Your Father and The Jedi Mindtrick
These drinks stopped everyone who walked through my kitchen on Star Wars Day. Every single person.
The red one is I Am Your Father. Mezcal, Triple Sec, guava purée, fresh lime and lemon juice, and a splash of grenadine for that deep crimson color, over ice with a Tajín rim. If you want to keep it nonalcoholic, swap the mezcal for coconut water and the Triple Sec for orange juice. You still get that gorgeous color and the flavor is genuinely fantastic.
The blue one is The Jedi Mindtrick. Mezcal, Blue Curaçao, white grape juice, lime juice, and simple syrup, with a teal sugar rim. Mocktail version swaps the mezcal for coconut water and uses nonalcoholic Blue Curaçao syrup.
What makes these unforgettable is the lightsaber chopstick straws, which actually light up in matching colors, and the LED coasters underneath the glasses. The red drink glows. The blue drink glows. You are sitting in a dim living room watching Darth Vader and these two drinks are lit up like actual lightsabers on your coffee table. It is completely unhinged and completely perfect.
One important note: the original version of these drinks in the cookbook includes dry ice for a smoky effect. Dry ice is -130 degrees. Do not touch it with bare hands, do not use it around children, and absolutely do not ingest it. Allow it to fully melt or remove it from the glass before drinking. If you skip the dry ice, the drinks are still stunning. I skipped it this round because I wanted to actually drink them and not narrate safety instructions at my husband all evening.

That’s No Moon Mixed Berry Pie
This pie has been in my life since 2022 and it still absolutely slaps.
I made it for the first time when my husband and I were living with my mom to save money. That was a season of life that had its challenges, but I remember making this pie and my mom completely losing her mind over it. She was obsessed. She talked about it for weeks. And honestly, it is not hard to understand why once you see it.
It is a mixed berry filling, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla, baked in a standard bottom crust. The magic is the top crust, which is hand-cut and shaped to look exactly like the Death Star. The circular superlaser dish, the grid panels, the horizontal equator line. You bake the top crust separately on parchment so you can control the browning, then lay it over the pie after. The result is a golden, glossy Death Star sitting on top of a bubbling, jammy berry filling that bleeds out around the edges like it is already mid-explosion.
This is the third time I have made it and I am not even close to done making it. It is one of those recipes that looks incredibly impressive and is actually very doable if you take your time with the crust design. The cookbook also includes the homemade pie crust recipe if you want to go fully from scratch.

The Full Galaxy
When everything hit the table, I genuinely could not believe how it all came together. The tiered platter with the Bantha Ribs and Imperial Walker Wedges on top. The charcuterie board in front with the lightsaber grape skewers and the Ewok cheeseball. The glowing drinks on either side. The Death Star pie on a cake stand in the corner. The AT-AT and Bantha cutouts stationed around the spread. The Star Wars menu card standing in the center of it all.
My husband called it over the top. He said it with complete admiration.
This is exactly what we do here.
