Tangled Themed Brunch Board (Disney Brunch Ideas at Home)

Tangled movie playing on TV behind Disney themed brunch board with Rapunzel tower centerpiece and lantern candles

I don’t say this lightly… but this Tangled Brunch Board might be one of my favorite boards I’ve ever created.

And considering I’ve been making elaborate Dinner & a Movie nights for nearly four years now, that’s saying a lot.

There’s just something about this brunch board series that feels different. Lighter. More playful. A little less “full production kitchen meltdown” and a lot more pure creative joy.

Every single board keeps getting better and better, and honestly? I’m completely obsessed.

But this one…

This one was always going to be special.

Because if there’s one movie my audience loves as much as I do, it’s Tangled. Floating lanterns, golden glow, it’s basically a dream theme waiting to happen.

And since I’m posting this on Valentine’s Day, it felt only right to lean fully into the romance, the magic, and yes… the drama.

Because what’s more romantic than a glowing lantern-filled morning?

Exactly.

The Vision Behind This Board

When I started designing this board, I knew exactly which scene I wanted to bring to life.

Not the tower.

Not the frying pan (although… iconic).

But the floating lanterns.

That soft golden glow. The stillness. The romance. The moment where everything just feels magical. It’s easily one of the most visually stunning scenes in any Disney film, and honestly, it set the entire tone for this brunch.

Instead of going overly “character-themed,” I leaned into the feeling of Tangled.

Warm golds. Soft purples. Candlelight. A balance of cozy and whimsical.

I wanted this board to feel like something you’d stumble upon in a lantern-lit kingdom — elegant, inviting, and just a tiny bit enchanted.

Brunch, but make it cinematic.

Of course, once the lantern concept was locked in, the rest of the board started building itself:

Something braided (because Rapunzel, obviously).
Something indulgent (Mother Gothel would demand it).
Something savory (because balance is a thing).
And donuts…no explanation needed.

The Showstopper: Donut Tower 🍩

Rapunzel tower donut stack centerpiece with purple flowers and green icing on kitchen counter

Every good Tangled board needs a tower.

Naturally, mine is made of donuts.

I reused the donut stand from my Cars brunch board, which ended up being the perfect base for building Rapunzel’s tower. The mix of donut sizes gave it that whimsical, slightly uneven storybook look.

The stacking pattern went:

2 cake donuts
2 strawberry donuts
3 mini Hostess donuts
2 strawberry donuts
2 cake donuts

For the pointed top, I used a simple party hat from Amazon. It sounds ridiculous, but visually, it works beautifully.

Once the tower was assembled, I piped soft green vines and tucked in decorative flowers to give it that magical, overgrown feel.

Honestly, this might be my favorite donut tower yet.

Magic Hair Danish ✨🥐

For the braid pastry, I knew I wanted something that subtly nodded to Rapunzel’s most iconic feature.

Her hair, of course.

This puff pastry braid is filled with a lightly sweetened cream cheese mixture and fresh blueberries. It’s buttery, creamy, and perfectly balanced — not overly sweet, but indulgent enough to feel special.

And the best part?

It’s surprisingly easy to make.

I garnished the finished braid with a few of the same decorative flowers used on the tower to keep the board visually cohesive.

It turned out absolutely delicious.

  • Spoon a thin layer of jam over the cream cheese if using.
  • Add fresh berries on top.
  • Cut diagonal strips along both sides of the pastry (about 1 inch wide).
  • Fold strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braid.

  • Cool slightly before slicing.
  • Finish with powdered sugar or floral garnish if you’re feeling extra ✨

Mother Gothel’s Hazelnut Pancakes 🥞

Stack of hazelnut Nutella pancakes topped with chopped hazelnuts and chocolate spread for Tangled brunch

Mother Gothel may be questionable in the parenting department… but her taste?

Impeccable.

These pancakes are a playful nod to her famous hazelnut soup, transformed into something far more brunch-appropriate.

Instead of flavoring the batter, I kept things simple with a classic stack of plain pancakes. This keeps the board balanced and lets the toppings do the storytelling.

To finish, I added a warm drizzle of Nutella and a light sprinkle of crushed hazelnuts.

Rich, chocolatey, slightly dramatic.

Very on theme.

The key here is restraint — just enough Nutella to feel indulgent without tipping the pancakes into full dessert territory.

Frying Pan Eggs (who knew?) 🍳

Tangled brunch board with donut tower, hazelnut pancakes, puff pastry braid, eggs in mini frying pans, croissants, blueberries, and purple mimosas

If there’s one unexpectedly iconic prop in Tangled, it’s the frying pan.

And honestly?

It deserved its moment on this board.

For this element, I kept things intentionally simple. The eggs were fried over easy and served in tiny cast iron frying pans purely for presentation.

No complicated techniques.
No elaborate seasoning.

Just classic brunch eggs styled in a way that instantly calls back to Rapunzel’s weapon of choice.

The golden yolks added the perfect pop of color, while the miniature pans made this detail feel playful without leaning overly themed.

Sometimes the simplest elements end up being the most charming.

Wanted: Bacon & Sausage 🥓

Every brunch board needs something savory and satisfying to balance out the pastries and sweets.

Enter bacon and sausage.

Simple, classic, and absolutely necessary.

To tie it back to Tangled, I labeled this section “Wanted: Bacon & Sausage” — a subtle nod to Flynn Rider’s very recognizable wanted posters.

I even added a tiny printable wanted sign for an extra storytelling detail.

Because if we’re committing to the theme, we’re committing.

This element grounds the board with a bit of salty, savory richness and keeps the overall spread feeling like a true brunch rather than a dessert table.

Balance is everything.

Floating Lantern Magic ✨🏮

Without question, this became my favorite part of the entire board.

The floating lantern scene in Tangled is pure visual magic, and I knew I wanted to recreate that feeling somehow.

After a little creative experimenting, I landed on one of my favorite styling hacks yet.

I used small jewelry riser stands to elevate flameless candles above the board. Then I printed floating lantern designs and wrapped them around the candles.

The result?

Soft glowing lanterns that appeared to float above the brunch spread.

It was even more stunning in person.

The warm glow instantly transformed the board and created that dreamy, romantic atmosphere that makes the lantern scene so unforgettable.

This is one of those details that looks incredibly elaborate but is actually very simple to recreate.

My favorite kind.

Blueberry “Water” & Croissant Boats 🫐🥐

Once the lanterns were in place, the rest of the board really started to feel like a scene.

To fill the open spaces, I scattered fresh blueberries across the board. Not only did they add beautiful color and texture, but they also created the perfect illusion of “water.”

A small detail, but such a fun visual nod.

For the boats, I used mini croissants and topped them with tiny Tangled sun flags.

They were almost too cute to eat.

This little combination of blueberries and croissant boats added movement, whimsy, and just the right amount of storytelling without overwhelming the board.

Sometimes the quiet details are what really bring everything together.

Lemon Tarts & The Tangled Sun ☀️

I’ve had these Tangled sun stencils for years.

And somehow… never used them.

Until now.

I happened to have a set of lemon tarts originally purchased for a different Dinner & a Movie night. They didn’t end up fitting that theme, but they turned out to be absolutely perfect for this brunch board.

Bright, golden, and beautifully simple.

Using the stencil and a light dusting of powdered sugar, I added the iconic Tangled sun to the top of each tart.

It was the perfect finishing touch.

The lemon flavor paired beautifully with the rest of the spread, while the sun detail tied everything back to the movie in such a clean, elegant way.

Proof that sometimes repurposing ingredients leads to the best creative decisions.

The Bee’s Knees Mimosa 💜🥂

Romantic Tangled lantern scene on TV with themed brunch board including pastries, bacon, eggs, and Rapunzel tower centerpiece

When we moved to Surprise, Arizona, about a year and a half ago, one of our favorite discoveries was Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant.

We quickly joined the wine club…despite not being huge wine drinkers, and it has easily become one of our favorite spots in town.

The food is incredible, the atmosphere is beautiful, and Matt is especially fond of their cabernets.

Around the time I was planning this brunch board, Cooper’s Hawk announced a brand-new sparkling wine called The Bee’s Knees.

And somehow…

It was purple.

I took that as a sign.

Naturally, I grabbed a bottle, and it ended up being the perfect drink pairing for this Tangled-inspired spread.

Light, bubbly, and visually stunning.

To elevate it even more, I added homemade lemon flower ice cubes, which added the prettiest golden detail to the glasses.

Lemon Flower Ice Cubes ☀️🍋

These ice cubes might be one of my favorite subtle details from this entire brunch board.

They’re simple, elegant, and completely on theme.

To create the lemon “flower” effect, slice fresh lemons into very thin rounds. Thin slices are key — they bend easily and create a softer, more delicate shape once frozen.

Gently press the lemon slices along the inner edges of each ice cube slot, curving them slightly so they resemble petals. Depending on the size of your tray, you can use full rounds or trimmed half slices.

Slowly pour water into the tray, letting it run down the side rather than directly onto the lemons to keep the arrangement intact.

Freeze for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight for best results.

For extra-clear cubes (especially if you’re photographing drinks), use boiled and cooled water before freezing.

When ready to serve, place the cube in the glass first, then pour your drink over it to highlight the floating lemon flower.

It’s a tiny detail.

But visually?

Absolutely magical.

Final Thoughts ☀️✨

I genuinely can’t get over how magical this board turned out.

Tangled has always been a favorite in our house… the visuals, the music, the lantern scene (obviously), the humor… it’s one of those movies that never gets old.

And somehow, transforming that world into a brunch experience felt even more fun than I imagined.

From the donut tower to the lantern glow, every detail felt whimsical, cozy, and just a little bit extra, exactly how a Fairytale Foodie brunch should feel.

This series has been such a refreshing creative shift. After years of Dinner & a Movie nights, stepping into brunch boards has unlocked a whole new layer of inspiration.

Different mood.

Different lighting.

Different energy.

Same magic.
