There are some Christmas movies that just never get old, and for me, The Santa Clause is at the top of that list. It came out when I was a kid, and every single year it gives me that same cozy, magical feeling. Funny enough, it wasn’t until embarrassingly recently that I realized the “E” at the end of The Santa Clause is for the legal clause… not just a cute spelling of Santa. Who knew, right?
This movie nails that 90s Christmas nostalgia, the pajamas, the sarcasm, the hot chocolate scene, and of course, Tim Allen trying to make sense of suddenly being Santa. So for this week’s Dinner and a Movie Night, I wanted to make something that felt just as classic and comforting.

There’s a whole generation of us who believed hot chocolate should be served the way Judy makes it in The Santa Clause, not too hot, extra chocolate, and stirred, not shaken. I took that to heart and created my version of The Perfect Hot Chocolate – thick, rich, and topped with a toasted marshmallow cloud and chocolate stars.
It’s exactly what Santa would need after a long night of rooftop landings and chimney dives. And if you’re making this for a family Christmas movie night, you can skip the splash of Baileys and still get all the magic.
A Fruit Wreath for the Elves
Every good elf deserves something light and merry to snack on, and this Fruit Wreath for the Elves couldn’t be easier (or cuter). It’s made with green grapes, raspberries, and sprigs of rosemary arranged in a circle to look just like a Christmas wreath.
It’s sweet, refreshing, and the perfect little bite before the heartier dishes, plus, it doubles as a stunning edible centerpiece. You can even tuck in a few cranberries for that pop of red if you want to go extra festive.

If you know, you know. The Denny’s scene in The Santa Clause, where Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) and Charlie walk into a sea of single dads after burning Christmas dinner, is iconic. It’s relatable, and kind of perfect.
If you have been following my movie night dinners, you know that I love a good breakfast for dinner – So instead of a fancy elaborate dinner, I decided to recreate my own “It’s Always Open” Grand Slam Breakfast at home: a golden stack of pancakes with butter melting down the sides, crispy bacon, sausage links, and perfectly cooked sunny-side-up eggs.
It’s cozy, comforting, and guaranteed to make even the grumpiest non-believer crack a smile. This is one of my favorite holiday dinner and a movie ideas because it flips the script, breakfast for dinner feels fun and festive, and it totally fits the movie’s humor.

You can’t have The Santa Clause without leaving out cookies for the big guy. And honestly, there is no better cookie recipe than my chocolate chip cookies… unless you toss in some Christmas M&Ms like I did here.
They’re soft, gooey, and loaded with chocolate chips, so good that even Neil would trade in his ugly sweaters for a second plate.
These are the kind of cookies that make your whole kitchen smell like Christmas, and if you’re setting out a plate for

By the end of the night, our kitchen smelled like butter and sugar, the tree lights were twinkling, and The Santa Clause was playing in the background, proof that holiday magic doesn’t have to be complicated.
