Toy Story 3 Snack Board — The Fairytale Foodie

The Toy Story 3 Snack Board for the Love of Lotso

I have been in a full Toy Story spiral and I am not even a little sorry about it.

Toy Story came out during my formative years. I grew up through the Disney renaissance and I got to experience the birth of Pixar in real time. I was a kid watching something that had never existed before. The storytelling, the characters, the feelings — they stuck. They really, genuinely stuck. So when Toy Story 5 started creeping up on the calendar, something in me just snapped into action. I already have a Toy Story snack board, a Toy Story brunch board, full dinners for Toy Story 1 and 2, and I even grabbed the Papa John’s Toy Story 4 special this year and turned it into a movie night. I am that person. I contain multitudes.

But Toy Story 3 is my favorite. Not because it’s objectively the best (it is), but because of Lotso. I know. I know he’s the villain. I have a pair of Lotso ears that my husband secretly commissioned from a friend of mine who never takes custom orders — he reached out behind my back and surprised me with them for Christmas. They are one of my most prized possessions. And yes, they still smell like strawberries.

So this board was always going to be a Lotso tribute. I just didn’t know how much I would lean into it until it was done.

Slinky Dogs

These look like a project. They are not a project. I want to be very clear about that because when people see these in person they act like I spent an hour on them, and the answer is absolutely not.

Here is the whole technique: push a skewer through a hot dog lengthwise, all the way through. Then take a sharp knife, hold it at a 45-degree angle, and slowly rotate the hot dog while letting the knife trace a spiral from one end to the other. The skewer is the secret, it keeps the knife from cutting all the way through, and it keeps the hot dog in its spiral shape after you pull it out. That’s it. You just made a Slinky Dog.

I tucked a few printed Slinky Dog images from Google right next to them on the board and the visual payoff was immediate. Slinky would be proud. Honestly, Slinky would be beside himself.

Hamm and Cheese Sandwiches

Look. It’s Hamm. It’s cheese. There was never a question about whether this was going on the board. The label does half the work and the other half is done by the fact that these are genuinely delicious little sandwiches that people actually want to eat.

The Hamm and Cheese label pick basically writes its own punchline. You can find, and print out all of the labels I made for this board at the end of this post! The board would feel incomplete without him.

Rex’s Tots

Here is a thing that happened: I bought Dino Tots from Target with absolutely no plan. I just saw them, thought “I’ll use these for something,” and bought them. I already used them on the Step Brothers board. Then this board came along and suddenly I understood why I bought them twice.

Rex deserves his own section. Rex is a deeply anxious dinosaur who just wants to be taken seriously and I feel that on a personal level. The Dino Tots are labeled with his name, served on a little pedestal, and they look exactly right. They’re available at Target and I’ve linked them below.

Lotso Smells Like Strawberries

Lotso Bear smells like strawberries. That is his whole thing. And I have a pair of Lotso ears that still smell like strawberries years later. So when I sat down to plan this board, the strawberry section was never optional.

I grabbed strawberry gummies and strawberry cookies from Trader Joe’s and they went straight into a bowl with the Lotso label. Simple, sweet, completely on theme. If you close your eyes and eat one, you are basically hugging a villainous bear who runs a daycare like a prison. Very comforting.

Toy Story Goldfish and Muddy Bites

Toy Story 5 is coming and I will not be caught unprepared. I found Toy Story branded Goldfish and they went directly into the star-shaped bowl because of course they did.

The Muddy Bites, though. I need a moment for the Muddy Bites. These are little cones with strawberry filling and they taste exactly like the very bottom of a Drumstick ice cream – you know that spot where all the chocolate and the cone collapse into each other, except make it strawberry. They are dangerous. They are also very much a Lotso tribute and I have zero regrets about eating too many of them.

Sunnyside Daycare Belts

The rainbow sour belts went into a bowl labeled Sunnyside Daycare and that is genuinely one of my favorite label jokes I have ever done. Sunnyside Daycare is where the toys end up thinking they’ll have the time of their lives and instead find out it’s a chaotic toddler nightmare run by a strawberry-scented tyrant. The rainbow belts are bright and cheerful and a little chaotic and absolutely the right choice.

Buttercup Horns

Nobody puts Buttercup on their snack board. Nobody! I did it and I will do it again.

Buttercup is the unicorn in Bonnie’s room and he is criminally underrated. I found unicorn horn marshmallows at the Dollar Tree — swirled in pastel colors, shaped like little horns — labeled them Buttercup Horns, and they are genuinely one of the prettiest things on this board. Sometimes the Dollar Tree is a treasure chest and this was one of those times.

To Infinity Lemonade

Two tall glasses of lemonade with Buzz Lightyear straw toppers I made myself. That’s the whole move and it is very effective.

The printable straw toppers are linked below — you print them, cut them out, tape them to your straws, and suddenly your drink is in space. The pink paper straws are also linked. Paired with the lemonade, the glasses look like part of the board and the Buzz toppers sticking up above everything make the whole setup read as intentional and polished instead of just snacks on a tray.

The Full Board

This one came together better than I expected, which is always the best feeling. Everything on the tray had a purpose and a character behind it. The Slinky Dogs anchored it. Lotso’s strawberry section ran through multiple elements and made the whole board feel cohesive. The Buzz lemonade tied up the top. Even Buttercup got his moment.

If you are making this for Toy Story 5, know that you can pull this whole board together in about 20 minutes. Most of it is store-bought and assembled. The only thing that takes any actual technique is the Slinky Dogs and I just told you that takes five minutes. You are so close to a really fun movie night.
