There is something about Toy Story that never fades.

It is bright and playful on the surface, but underneath it carries a quiet kind of nostalgia. The kind that reminds you of being small, sitting too close to the TV, and believing your toys might actually come alive the moment you left the room. It is comfort and imagination wrapped into one movie.

That feeling is exactly what I wanted this brunch board to capture.

This Toy Story brunch was not about going over the top for the sake of it. It was about building a moment. A slow morning. A table that feels joyful before you even take a bite. The kind of spread that makes you smile first and eat second.

At the center of it all is Pizza Planet. Because honestly, what Toy Story experience is complete without it. From there, the board came together piece by piece. Buzz Lightyear parfaits stacked high and colorful. Green Alien donuts staring back at you, waiting to be chosen by The Claw. Crispy Mr. Potato Head rounds that feel nostalgic in the best way. Slinky Dog sausages that are just as fun as they are satisfying. And a simple fruit salad for Sheriff Woody, finished with pineapple stars that feel like a quiet wink to the details.

You can find all of the supplies I used for this board on my amazon store front linked here.

Toy Story–inspired brunch board with Pizza Planet breakfast pizza, themed donuts, parfaits, fruit, and tater tots

This is the kind of brunch that works for kids, adults, and anyone who just wants to feel like a kid again for a morning. It is playful without being fussy. Nostalgic without feeling dated. And most importantly, it is meant to be shared.

Now let’s build the board.

Board Overview: Toy Story Brunch Board

This brunch board is officially Part 2 of the Epic Brunch Series, and it felt only right to start with Toy Story.

Toy Story is one of those rare movies that works on every level. It is playful enough for kids, emotional enough for adults, and iconic enough that the food almost designs itself. That is why this brunch works so well. It is fun without trying too hard, nostalgic without feeling themed for the sake of it.

What makes this board extra special is that Toy Story is one of the few movies here with a full set of viewing options. There is a complete dinner, a snack board, and now this brunch. Whether you want a cozy morning, a casual afternoon watch, or a full dinner and a movie night, this film has you covered.

Toy Story–inspired brunch board with Pizza Planet breakfast pizza, themed donuts, parfaits, fruit, and tater tots

This brunch board leans into the joy of slow mornings and colorful food. A little savory, a little sweet, and a lot of personality. Every item on the board pulls from the movie in an obvious but intentional way, so nothing feels random or overdone.

Now let’s start building the board, beginning with the item everyone spots first.

Green Alien Donuts

Toy Story alien donuts with green frosting and candy eyes on a themed brunch board

If there is one item on this board that makes people stop in their tracks, it is these donuts.

The green aliens are such a small part of the Toy Story universe, but somehow they steal every scene they are in. These donuts do the exact same thing. They are simple, bright, instantly recognizable, and honestly just ridiculously cute. The kind of food that makes everyone smile before they even realize they are smiling.

This is also one of my favorite kinds of board elements because it looks impressive without being complicated. No fancy baking. No stress. Just a few smart shortcuts and a little color.

How we made them

I grabbed plain cake donuts from a local donut shop. You can absolutely use store bought donuts here and no one will know the difference. From there, I made a quick icing with powdered sugar and milk, added lime green food coloring, and dipped each donut until fully coated.

Once the icing set just slightly, I added three candy eyeballs to each donut to bring the aliens to life. That is it. That is the whole magic.

If you want to lean into the theme even more, I also styled these with a “The Claw” printable nearby, which really drives the Toy Story reference home.

You can link the candy eyeballs, lime green food coloring, and The Claw printable below if you want to recreate this exactly.

Pizza Planet Breakfast Pizza

If there is one dish that defines Toy Story food, it is Pizza Planet.

It is playful. It is nostalgic. And somehow, it makes total sense to turn it into breakfast. This was always going to be the anchor of the board. The hearty, comforting centerpiece that makes everything else feel balanced.

I wanted this to feel indulgent but approachable. Something that looks fun on the board, tastes familiar, and does not require a million steps. Using store-bought pizza dough keeps this stress-free, and the gravy base makes it feel extra cozy and brunch-worthy.

One important note before you start.
Save a few thin strips of pizza dough for the Slinky Dog sausages later.
Just set them aside now and thank yourself later.

Pizza Planet–inspired breakfast pizza served on a Toy Story brunch board

How we made it

We started with store-bought pizza dough and cut it into small five-inch rounds. These are the perfect size for a brunch board and bake evenly without overthinking portions.

Instead of sauce, we spread a light layer of gravy across the dough. Not too much. Just enough to coat the base. From there, we added shredded mozzarella, soft scrambled eggs, and crumbled breakfast sausage. Everything went into the oven until the cheese melted and the crust turned golden.

When they came out, we finished them with a sprinkle of parsley for a little color. Simple, classic, and exactly what Pizza Planet breakfast should feel like.

To take this one step further, we served them in homemade Pizza Planet pizza boxes using five-inch boxes and printable sticker sheets. This detail alone makes the entire board feel intentional and elevated.

You can absolutely use a store-bought gravy packet here, and it will still be delicious. But if you have a few extra minutes, the homemade biscuit gravy below is my favorite way to do it.

  • Store-bought pizza dough
  • Breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ to ¾ cup gravy homemade or store-bought
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

  • Roll out the pizza dough and cut into five-inch rounds. Reserve a few thin strips of dough for the Slinky Dog sausages and set aside.

Homemade Biscuit Gravy

This is hands down the best gravy for biscuits you will ever have. This recipe started with my grandmother, and I have refined it over the years to make it my own. It is hands down my favorite recipe that she has passed down to me, and my husband gets excited every time I make it, and has even asked me many times to make it to share with my in laws. It is rich, peppery, and comforting in a way that feels like real brunch food, not an afterthought. Most sausage gravies are made using the grease from the sausage itself, which works, but adding bacon into the mix first takes it to a completely different level.

Yes, it is one extra step.
And yes, it is worth it every single time.

This gravy works beautifully on biscuits, but it is especially good as the base for the Pizza Planet Breakfast Pizza. It adds depth without overpowering the eggs or sausage, and a little goes a long way.

If you are short on time, a store-bought gravy packet is totally fine here. But if you want that cozy, made-from-scratch flavor that makes people ask what you did differently, this is it.

How we made it

We started by cooking bacon and saving the grease. That bacon grease is what makes this gravy special. From there, we made a simple roux with equal parts bacon grease and flour, then slowly whisked in milk until thick and smooth.

Once the gravy reached the right consistency, we seasoned it with black pepper and just a small pinch of powdered sugar. Not enough to make it sweet, just enough to balance the salt and bring everything together. Finally, we stirred in cooked, crumbled breakfast sausage and let it simmer until thick and spoonable.

Biscuits and Gravy

This homemade biscuit gravy uses bacon grease for extra flavor, ground pork breakfast sausage, and a creamy milk base to create a rich, savory gravy that is perfect for biscuits or as the base for a Pizza Planet–inspired breakfast pizza.
Prep Time:5 minutes
Cook Time:20 minutes
Total Time:22 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons bacon grease
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk or whatever milk you have on hand
  • Ground pork breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled
  • Black pepper to taste
  • A small pinch of powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Heat bacon grease in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until a smooth roux forms.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  • Continue cooking and whisking until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
  • Season with black pepper to taste and add a small pinch of powdered sugar.
  • Stir in the cooked breakfast sausage and simmer for a few minutes until warmed through.

Notes

Make-ahead note
This gravy can be made earlier in the morning and gently reheated over low heat, adding a splash of milk if needed to loosen it.

Slinky Dog Breakfast Sausage

These might be my favorite thing on the entire board.

Slinky Dog is such a lovable character, and turning him into breakfast just felt right. This is one of those ideas that looks like it took forever, but is actually very simple once you get going. It is playful, recognizable, and surprisingly practical for a brunch board.

I used chicken breakfast sausage here because it cooks evenly in the oven and holds its shape really well. Pork works too, but chicken is easier for this method and less greasy, which helps the dough bake properly.

And yes, this is where those pizza dough strips come back into play.

How we made them

Before anything else, this is your reminder.
If you are making the Pizza Planet Breakfast Pizza, save a few thin strips of pizza dough before baking the pizzas. You do not need much dough, just a handful of very thin strips.

We wrapped each sausage with the dough in a loose spiral, leaving small gaps so it still looks like a slinky. Once wrapped, they went onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and into the oven until the dough was golden and cooked through.

When they came out, I added a Slinky Dog front and back using toothpicks. I cannot provide that printable since it is licensed, but you can absolutely recreate the look with any small Slinky Dog image, you can find and print out!

They are fun, slightly ridiculous, and always one of the first things people grab.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  • Attach Slinky Dog face and tail decorations using toothpicks before serving.

Notes

Serving note
These are best served warm but hold well for brunch boards if baked shortly before serving.

Mr. Potato Head Rounds

This is where the board gets a little cheeky.

Mr. Potato Head rounds are exactly what they sound like. Crispy, golden hash brown rounds dressed up with Mr. Potato Head pieces. They are nostalgic, instantly recognizable, and very hard to walk past without grabbing one.

Are we eating Mr. Potato Head?
Yes. Yes we are.
I like to think he would understand.

This is also one of those board elements that keeps things grounded. Not everything needs to be homemade or complicated. Sometimes frozen hash browns are the move, especially when they give you this much payoff with almost no effort.

Toy Story brunch board featuring Mr. Potato Head tater tot rounds with themed food picks on a white serving plate

How we made them

We air fried frozen round hash browns according to the package instructions until they were crisp and golden. While they were baking, I prepped Mr. Potato Head piece printables and attached them to toothpicks.

Once the hash browns came out of the oven, we added the picks right on top and transferred them to the board while they were still warm.

That is it. Simple, nostalgic, and surprisingly one of the first things to disappear.

You can find the hash brown rounds and food label tags linked at the bottom of this post.

Buzz Lightyear Breakfast Parfaits

These parfaits are doing a lot of quiet work on this board.

They add height, freshness, and a pop of color that balances out all the warm, savory dishes. And even better, they pull directly from Buzz Lightyear’s suit without feeling forced or overstyled. Clean layers. Bright colors. Simple ingredients that feel intentional.

This is one of those items that looks fancy but takes almost no effort, which is exactly what you want on a brunch board.

Buzz Lightyear–inspired yogurt parfait with berries and granola on a Toy Story brunch board

How we made them

I used small mason jars, but any short clear glass will work here. The key is being able to see the layers.

We layered vanilla yogurt, sliced strawberries, granola, and blueberries to mimic Buzz’s color palette. Once the jars were filled, we finished them with a little extra granola, a blueberry, a strawberry slice, and a few mint leaves for a fresh finish.

To really sell the theme, we garnished each parfait with a Buzz Lightyear pick. That final touch makes these instantly recognizable and ties them back into the Toy Story story without overdoing it.

You can link the mason jars or glasses and the Buzz Lightyear printable here so readers can recreate the look easily.

Sheriff Woody’s Fruit Salad

Every board needs a moment to breathe, and this is it.

Sheriff Woody’s Fruit Salad is intentionally simple. After all the warm, savory dishes and playful details, this brings everything back to fresh, bright, and easy. It also proves that not every element on a themed board needs a long ingredient list to feel special.

This one is all about shape and color.

How we made it

We kept the fruit classic and crowd-friendly. Blueberries and raspberries for color, and fresh pineapple cut into sheriff badges using a small cookie cutter. That single detail does all the work.

Once the pineapple stars were cut, everything was layered loosely on the board so it felt abundant but not styled within an inch of its life. This is the kind of fruit people actually eat, which is always a win at brunch.

No recipe card needed here. Just fresh fruit, a fun shape, and a nod to the sheriff who started it all.

Hamm Mimosas

Every brunch board needs a drink, and this one was an easy yes.

Hamm is such a background character in Toy Story, but his pink color makes him perfect inspiration for a simple, playful brunch cocktail. These mimosas add a pop of color to the board without stealing focus from the food, and they feel celebratory in a very low-effort way.

This is also one of those moments where presentation does most of the work.

How we made them

We used strawberry cranberry juice to get that soft pink color, then topped it with sparkling wine or sparkling water (I like the strawberry flavored sparkling water.) You can absolutely adjust the ratios depending on how strong you like your mimosas, but keeping it light works best for brunch.

I poured them into coupe glasses and added Toy Story character ice cubes using molds I originally picked up from Miniso years ago. I was able to find similar molds on Amazon, but just a heads up that they are a bit pricier now.

Even without the molds, these are still a fun addition to the board. The pink color alone sells the Hamm reference.

Simple, bubbly, and just enough to make brunch feel like an occasion.

Printables and Supplies

This board comes together so smoothly because of a few intentional details. Below are links to all the printables and supplies used throughout the brunch so you can recreate the look without guessing or overbuying.
