Treasure Planet Dinner and a Movie Night
Ready to sail the galaxy on a flavor packed Dinner and a Movie adventure?
This week’s Disney Dinner & a Movie night was inspired by a film that’s been wildly requested by you all: Treasure Planet. And after a few culinary misfires behind the scenes (yes, the original menu did not go as planned), I scrapped the whole thing and started fresh. What came out of it is a meal I am so proud of. It’s magical, meaty, and looks straight out of Epcot’s Space 220 restaurant. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re dining in another universe while watching a criminally underrated Disney gem, this one’s for you.

Why Treasure Planet?
This movie holds a soft spot in the hearts of many millennial Disney fans. It didn’t get the love it deserved when it came out, but let’s be real, space pirates, solar surfing, and that soundtrack? Chef’s kiss. This menu is my tribute to Jim Hawkins and his epic journey.
And since we’re talking space, I took a cue from Disney World’s Space 220 restaurant, which serves a steak frites dish that’s just elevated enough to feel special while still totally approachable. That became the north star for this dinner.
Now let’s talk food.
The Menu
Appetizer: Cosmic Citrus Salad
We start light and bright, just like the beginning of the film. This leafy green salad is packed with intergalactic pops of color: mandarin oranges (a nod to the glowing orbs in the film), blueberries, pomegranate seeds, and a sprinkle of feta and walnuts for richness and crunch. It’s citrusy, juicy, and so refreshing, a perfect balance before diving into the main event.
Pro tip: Serve this on a black plate to make the colors pop like a galaxy map.
Main Course: Starfire Steak Frites with Chimichurri
This dish is the showstopper. A pan-seared New York steak, cooked to juicy perfection, gets drizzled with vibrant chimichurri and is served alongside crispy, golden fries tossed with garlic, parmesan, and fresh parsley. There’s also a creamy garlic aioli for dipping because, yes, we’re extra.
The name “Starfire” was inspired by Jim’s solar surfer – a wild, reckless ride that still somehow feels smooth. That’s exactly what this steak dish is: bold, flavorful, and totally unforgettable.

Dessert: Galaxy Brownie
Think decadent homemade brownie topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream, galaxy sprinkles, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Want to take it to the next level? Add a golden chocolate orb, like the one from the movie, as your edible treasure.
It’s rich, fun, and ridiculously pretty.
Drink: The Navigator’s Pour
This layered drink looks like space in a glass. Blue curaçao on the bottom, butterfly pea flower tea in the middle, and vodka lemonade on top. Garnished with a lemon wheel and galaxy sprinkles on the rim, it’s as beautiful as it is refreshing.
Make it a mocktail by skipping the vodka and using non-alcoholic blue curaçao.

Fun fact: I originally planned a completely different menu for this movie. Let’s just say the egg-dyeing experiment was a disaster and the dish I thought would be the star felt more like a sidekick. So I listened to my gut (and my taste tester husband), and went back to what I know best, comfort food, leveled up.
That’s how this steak frites masterpiece was born. I wanted something that felt upscale but didn’t require a culinary degree to pull off. Something hearty, colorful, and totally worthy of the Try Everything cookbook.
And honestly? This might be one of my favorite meals in the whole book.
