This was one of those movie nights where I wanted to go all-in on the storytelling. Zootopia is packed with vibrant neighborhoods, unforgettable characters, and so much personality, and I knew our Zootopia Dinner and a Movie menu had to match that energy. From tiny charcuterie bites in Little Rodentia to bold skewers inspired by Savannah Central, every dish is its own character moment.

🧀 Little Rodentia Cheese Board

We start small…literally. This mini charcuterie board is made up of bite-sized cheeses, tiny crackers, halved grapes, and petite pickles. It’s whimsical, snacky, and 100% inspired by the mouse-sized town Judy accidentally demolishes in her chase scene.

The best part? You can serve this on a small wooden plate or even a child’s tea party tray. It’s a crowd-pleaser, especially when paired with the custom Little Rodentia sign I printed out just for the occasion.

Visual tip: Use mozzarella pearls, mini brie wedges, and grape halves for maximum “awww” factor.

🍢 Savannah Central Skewers

This dish is the heart of the city, and the heart of the meal. I wanted to represent Zootopia’s cultural melting pot, so I made skewers that pull from different districts:

• Lemon Garlic Chicken – juicy, zesty, crowd-pleasing
• Rainbow Veggie Skewers – colorful and vibrant, just like the city streets
• Optional Coconut-Lime Shrimp – a tropical bonus if you’re feelin’ fancy

All served on one big platter so it feels like a street festival in your kitchen. I didn’t film the shrimp, but the recipe’s in the cookbook if you want to go the extra mile.

🍚 Sunshine Station Rice

Golden, cozy, and bursting with warmth, this turmeric rice brings everything together. It’s simple to make, but the color payoff is HUGE. You can make it from scratch or grab a frozen bag of turmeric rice from Trader Joe’s. No judgment here.

We called it Sunshine Station Rice as a little nod to Savannah Central’s iconic train stop and the way Judy sees Zootopia for the first time. This dish is like that moment: bright, inviting, and full of promise.

🥒 Bonus: Grilled Zucchini Spears

Okay, this wasn’t in the original plan, but these zucchini spears were the perfect little green sidekick. Easy to grill, quick to season, and they make the whole spread feel a little more “dinner” and a little less “just snacks and vibes.”

A little olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder is all you need. Trust me.

🍩 The Big Donut

This might be my favorite part of the night. Inspired by the giant donut that nearly squishes Fru Fru (iconic), these donuts are dipped in chocolate glaze and topped with hot pink icing that spells out THE BIG DONUT, just like in the movie.

And because I know some of you are baking queens and some of you just need dessert to be DONE, I gave three options:

• Store-bought donuts + decorated
• Biscuit dough fried and glazed
• From-scratch yeast-raised donuts

Whichever path you choose, make it dramatic.

🧊 Pawpsicles

A nod to Nick Wilde’s very first hustle, these paw-shaped strawberry mango popsicles are simple, fun, and surprisingly refreshing.

I served them on popsicle sticks (just like in the movie), stuck them in crushed ice, and printed a Pawpsicle $2 Organic sign for flair. It made the entire setup feel like an actual street cart, and honestly? It was kind of adorable.

Kids will love them. Adults will sneak them. You might need a second batch.

🍹 The Big Hustle Cocktail

This drink is Nick Wilde in a glass: layered orange and green with a bold blue rim, and, of course, a mini pawpsicle stir stick.

I skipped the carrot juice and went with orange mango and Midori for those vibrant colors. The mocktail version is just as striking, using green apple syrup and lemon-lime soda. You can serve this to literally anyone and get compliments.

Behind the Scenes

This was one of those movie nights that just clicked. From the custom signs to the themed plating, I felt like we actually lived in Zootopia for an evening.
